Diet during exam season.

Hello! I am finally back to blogging after being away for the month of December, and can I say how much I did miss blogging and having free time. Now that my holiday and my exams are over I will be blogging more often, for now I want to discuss diets and eating habits during exam season. Shall we begin?

Everyone’s habits during exam season are all different. Some people may eat less and some people may eat more. Having talked to my friends who also study Nutrition we talked about eating habits during exam season sometime and some things I heard from them are that some people may eat less during exam season. And this may not neccesarily be during exam season but also when assignments are due. This could be because they may be so focused on their own work that they forget to eat or they might not have the time to take out to eat a meal. Now this can be serious as they are lacking on all the energy and nutrients that their body and also their brain needs to get through the day, so ultimately eating less could equal to less concentration or even that the brain is not processing enough information to remember because it lacks energy. This is why nutritionists point out th importance of eating a balanced diet and this could be good for when your brain needs the energy.

However, some people may eat excessively. This is often known as stress eating and I can raise my hand and say that I was a victim of stress eating once. This is also bad as you tend to be eating more snacks rather than meals and they may be unhealthy. Of course you’re not too focused on what you are eatig when all you want to do is memorise topics for your exam.

It is important for students to remember that exam time is a very stressful time ( I would know, I just gave my last exam yesterday!) But diet is also important and it could help with your revision and making sure you remember everything so it is best to eat a normal portion of three meals a day and one snack. Also it would help to move around a little and gain a little physical activity as you are revising!

With all that being said, good luck to anyone still taking exams or need to take exams in the near future, You’ll do great!

Update: Where I’ve been.

Hey guys! Guess who’s back after her long hiatus? Well it’s not me, so time to cry buckets. 😦 But I am back to give you an update on where I have been and when I will be back! Let’s get started!

So for the past few weeks, I have been just so busy working on all my assignments because I am such a good student that I have to be on top of everything. (It’s a joke, I’m probably the most laziest!) So me being me I was stressing over all my assignments.. I also had a few family weddings to attend which also ate a huge chunk of my assignment time so it lead to more stress but ultimately more procrastination (As I am totally doing right now!)

Now that that part is all done I have even more of a headache because in 2 weeks I have a presentation to give which date isn’t even confirmed *smacks head against a lot of books* but I also have a report due on the supposed same date which I have only written like two lines about! Well technically I was doing my research on that so it doesn’t count as procrastinating but my progress level is literally 1. B8E1B335-1C1D-4B41-B8E2-74F30DB5BE54

That being said, the next two weeks will be filled with more stress but knowing myself I tend to get shit done on time. But I have another week which will be filled with last minute packing for my trip back home to Pakistan!

I will be taking my iPad with me so I will be able to blog and show you some pictures! But I also need to be revising for my exams so I will also be cramming revision (Does the stress ever end?)

But dont worry, I’ll be back before you know it with some more entertaining content that I have planned! So all should be fun in the New Year! But for now, it’s really farewell for the next month of so…. 😦

My semi-hiatus.

Hey hey hey! Welcome back to another post! I’ve been missing for at least 2 weeks and I’m here to give you all an update! Shall we begin?

So first thing to address is why I have partially been on hiatus for 2 weeks. The first half of my university semester is here so that means I have deadlines piling on and I want to really focus on my assignments for a while so I have my best chance at doing better than last year. I’m very conscious when it comes to grades because even though I have never failed so far I am always competing to get a higher grade so I F4A8FC1D-B284-4596-AD6D-1AE0E0959869want to surpass my limit at this point. I’m actually motivated this time!

I do have some fun posts planned and I hope to be more active on the blogosphere by checking out some other blog posts and blogs, so if you have any blog recommendations let me know!

These next few months up until January will be a bit hectic because I have a few weddings to attend here in London and in December I will be going back home to Pakistan! When I am there I have another wedding to attend and during my free time there I have to revise for my exams for the beggining of January, but after that I will be back to blogging regularly and When I finish these assignments I will put a few more posts up before focusing on exams.

I really dont want to go on a semi hiatus but it is necessary and I promise you all I 1FF63348-5220-4983-9C68-500D0B7A57A6will be back with some new content! More posts on nutrition as well as some brand new catergories so make sure to stay tuned for that!

I promise to be back very soon and I will work harder for you!

How to keep up a balanced diet as a student

Hey everyone! I’m back after a very long time with another post! My university classes started and I had so much stress on my head that I became ill and after that I never had anytime to myself! So, I’m back today with a post about keeping up a balanced diet and eating all the right nutrients as a student! Shall we begin>

One of the things first is one bad habit I have recently gotten over. It’s called stress 82A21376-9968-456B-8F83-DFCD4553EA78eating, As a student we all have that time where we are stressing over the latest assignment or exam and we cant help but stress eat! I used to do it and I gained weight because of it! The way I got rid of it was because I had someone notice i had gained weight and they actually frowned at me so I vowed to consume less food and to only consume enough that will make my hunger content, In other words, not to eat excessively. And even if I was tempted to eat something I know I shouldn’t be, I would always remind myself of that promise I made for myself.

Of course that doesn’t work for everyone.

So if you are a food junkie like me and find yourself stress eating the best way is to either make yourself a promise and keep by it, or if that doesn’t work swap that piece of chocolate for something different, it could be something like a fruit or yoghurt or a healthy snack. if you dont want to eat fruit alone you can always cut it up and put it into a bowl of yogurt of maybe make some toast. It doesn’t always have to be fruit that you are snacking on. It can be nuts or vegetables as well. because like this you will be consuming vitamins and nutrients as well as stress eating. Just don’t eat too much!

BFFF913A-FAC9-44FA-9881-5B0CFD077743As a student who is in university and doesn’t rely on their mothers home cooked food every night anymore, it must be hard to find time to cook right? The best way to overcome that is to find time in the week and cook a meal that can last you a week. This is called meal prep and you can find a post about it on one of my earlier blog posts! The way I prefer is the best way is to prepare a few different ingredients that you can store in the fridge and just throw together on a plate and that way it wont take time to cook and you have a variety of meals!

Its important to keep up with meals and not to skip any! And try to eat more nutrient rich foods and less pre-packaged foods as you dont know what exactly is in them or how they were prepared so I personally dont prefer it as a healthy option. Home-cooked food really is the best!

Are you a student? What ideas do you have to eat healthy as a student? Let me know your ideas in the comment section and dont forget to give this post a like!

My Nighttime Routine

Hey everyone! It’s been a few days, I was meaning to write a post earlier but I was so busy working and getting ready for university to start as it did yesterday, And then after my first class I came home not feeling well so I’m writing now. I didn’t know which post to write first so I settled for a night-time routine! Shall we begin?

On a weekday, I get home from university around 6 or 7 in the evening, I usually have dinner with my family and spend some time with them. Watch TV or I usually play with my baby niece who is an absolute cutie! Then I study and read for a while and get ready to sleep. I dont have a specific skincare routine simply because I don’t know which products to use but these days I use a charcoal face scrub. I use one I buy from the drugstore but if you have any good recommendations please let me know in the comments below! I haven’t watched many YouTube videos on night time skincare routines and specifically haven’t watched anyone use any products available here in the UK. If anyone from London is reading this and have any recommendations for nighttime skin products, I’m open to suggestions! Please leave a comment in the section below!

I usually sit on my phone for a while scrolling through Instagram because I don’t usually have time to during the day. I watch a few YouTube videos but not a lot. The only Youtuber I watch is Leena and her channel name is WithLoveLeena. I like watching her videos and she has somehow grown as an inspiration to me. I get so many ideas from watching her videos!

I have to watch at least one episode before I sleep! The current show I’m watching is Once Upon A time. I used to watch it before giving up on it but recently I have started to rewatch it and I’m currently on the end of season 3. I sometimes read a little section of a book or so or write a blog post as I am doing now!

That’s it really! It’s nothing special but hopefully later on when I develop a skincare routine I will do a more updated version of my night-time routine!

If you have any night-time skincare products that you can recommend then comment in the section below!

Perfect ingredients for Meal Prep!

Hey! I’m back with another blog post! These past few days I’ve been sick so I had time to relax and think of a blog post. I saw a lot of videos on YouTube about ‘Meal Prep’ and I didn’t know what it was until I clicked the videos. It’s basically where people make a meal in a quantity that can last them a few days. This is an essential idea for students or anyone living alone. Today I’m changing the traditional idea of meal prep and not just talk about one meal but I am going to list some ingredients that are perfect to store for meals! Shall we begin?

Ingredient 1: Boiled eggs

Eggs are a considered a very nutritious food and are recommended to be eaten as they contain a number of nutrients including essential vitamins. I prefer to have my eggs boiled as they are easy to store to take out when you’re in a rush and need something to snack on. I normally like to slice them on a piece of toast and sprinkle on some herbs, it tastes simple but delicious.

Ingredient 2: Houmous

I am a huge houmous fan! I can have houmous with just about anything, For me it can be a dressing for a salad, for something to spread on my toast. It can also be a dip, Houmous is also a healthy snack option as it is made from chickpeas (Garbanzo beans) they contain several nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates and fibre. It can be beneficial for anyone with diabetes and they also contain vitamins and minerals  such as Vitamin K, folate, zinc, copper, manganese, choline and selenium. It’s a nutritious ingredient to have in your diet!

Ingredient 3: Carrot Sticks

Carrot sticks are a very quick and easy snack to have stored in your fridge. The recommended way to store them is in water in an airtight container. It’s also great to dip in houmous!

Ingredient 4: Rice

This is a handy ingredient to have in your fridge. It’s a staple food and most meals are have rice in them. I prefer my rice to be spicy rather than plain so I can just cook a bit of chicken and have that at the side or even eat the rice alone. One way I eat rice that people find weird is that I eat it for breakfast. I like to fry an egg on both sides because I want the yolk to be cooked as well when I put it on top of spicy rice. I got this idea from korean dramas because they sometimes eat omelette over rice but I prefer to have fried egg.

Ingredient 5: Couscous

Couscous is my main side dish that I mainly like to have with my salads. Couscous is very easy to prepare and I think its the only ingredient you dont have to have pre-made. The way I make is that I take a vegetable stock cube and mix it in boiling water and then I cook the couscous with a little extra water and the vegetable stick cube broth and the couscous soaks up water in a very short amount of time. The stock cube just brings some flavour to the couscous. Add some vegetables to it and some chicken cubes to it and make it into a meal!

Ingredient 6: Chicken

Chicken is also a handy ingredient to have. Season a few chicken steaks, I like to have it spicy so I add whatever spices I like and marinate the chicken overnight. Then roast the chicken and store in your fridge, It’s a great ingredient to add to the side of your rice or to salads and a great source of protein!

These are all the ingredients that could make for a meal prep for a few days. Of course there are other foods that can be prepped but these are my main ones! I hope these tips were useful to you!

Do you have any ideas of any foods that can be perfect for meal prep? How do usually have your meal prep? Let me know in the comments below!

My Nutrition Experience!

Hi everyone! Welcome to the nutrition side of my blog. In this post specifically I will be talking about my personal connecttion to nutrition and my experience. Have fun reading!

I never used to care much for nutrition, but I have always been a big eater and I used to love all different kinds of food and I guess I had a passion for food. No matter how many times my family told me I used to eat a lot, I was never a picky eater and always liked to eat new things. I was such a foodie that at the age of 14, I went on a school trip to Spain and I ate octopus there! Only a little though.

I used to also have a passion for media. I wanted to pursue a career in media, I love video editing, its always a stress reliever but I dont always have to time to make videos or download some videos to tamper with and make my own edit out of.  I also used to love Journalism and was so set to become a journalist.

That didn’t work out by the time I was 17 because I lost my mum and at that time I was finishing college and my family didn’t actuall want me to pursue a career as a journalist. I made a whole list of other things I could pursue a career in. Languages was another thing I was good at learning. I know a little French and Spanish that was taught to me at school but I also managed to teach myself Korean and although I’m not that good, I can make conversation and talk about a lot of different things. A career in Languages also didn’t work out.

At that time i was watching a Korean drama and the main girl was a nutritionist. It kind of fascinated me and I researched more about nutrition and I had finally had my career set! But I didn’t know much about science and that cost me so I had to call a few university and thankfully the university of my own choice accepted me!

Now at this stage I have finished my first year of Nutriton Bsc Hons and about to go into my second year in 2 weeks, My passion for nutrition grows as well as a stable career path!

So that’s the full in-detail story about how I jumped from learning Media to learning about Nutrition at university!

Hi! Welcome!

Hey everyone, welcome to my blog! My name is Raisa as you can tell from my blog name. This is literally my third blog in three years and this time I am determined to keep this one! I started blogging two years ago at the end of high school and beginning of college and since then I went on this crazy, yet exciting journey and met lot of beautiful people and also lost some along the way, but everyone is happy so its all good!

I started out as a book blogger because I used to go crazy for books but these days I forget or just don’t have time to read anymore. It’s a shame because I used to love it, I then changed my whole blog design and gained some tiny experience about web design and started to blog about all my favourite hobbies, some were book reviews, TV show reviews ( I watch a lot of korean drama so it was mostly filled with that), fashion, and my own life experience. But one day I decided to just close down my blog because I never uploaded anything anymore. But I couldn’t stay away for long!

I created this blog and along with me talking about my hobbies I decided to hold onto the concept of youth. I’m 19 now and youth is ending so I want to share and savour every last experience. Also my instagram that I made ( It’s shown in the sidebar if you want to follow!) I decided to also make that a concept of my youth and that’s why I put up pictures to savour every experience and my bio is a huge clue but everyone who follows me thinks its a regular fashion/lifestyle instagram blog but its that and so much more.

All that being said, I really wish you a warm welcome and I hope you enjoy reading some of my experiences with me as time goes by and I hope to see you all regularly!

Dont forget to follow my instagram shown in the sidebar and leave a comment under this post!
